Why satinstitched?
Satin stitching is a type of embroidering and stitching technique. I learned to do it through friends and have since used the technique in nearly all of my cosplays. I dislike it when the edge of fabrics fray, and it gives a nice finished look when adding appliqués.
When did you start Cosplay and Why?
I've always had an interest in Cosplay since I was invited by a group of friends to attend my first anime convention, Fanime in San Jose. I thought that it was mandatory to dress up so I cosplayed as Sona from League of Legends. She was my favorite character at the time. Other attendees recognized my character, complimented my outfit, and often asked to take photos with me. I had so much fun that I felt more inclined to do it again. I had chosen to make my cosplays from scratch rather than buy them because I like to be in control of which fabrics to use and fit things to my size.
Where do you get your supplies?
I purchase my fabrics and materials from multiple sources. Sometimes I find things to use in my art or receive donations. My main source is eBay but I also try to support my local businesses. Here are my recommendations:
